Activity Days: Paper Heart Attack

We needed to complete some type of service activity and my original plan was to pick up trash on the streets of the neighborhood or local park and then do ice cream in a bag but it was way too hot! I went with a paper heart attack, this is where you cut out paper hearts and write messages to the person you will be attacking. We chose the primary presidency in which we thanked them for all their hard work. We also made rice crispy treats which we left at their doorsteps and covered their doors with the paper hearts, then we knocked on the door and ran. The girls enjoyed all the work but really struggled leaving the rice crispy treats. We had to send them back after knocking at each house because they kept walking off with the treats instead of leaving them on the porch. It was rather silly of them! They enjoyed a rice crispy treat after.

Activity Days: Manners

We discussed different situations where we use our manners. Talked about the importance of manners and had a little role playing. We then practiced using good manners while having cupcakes and juice. Who isn't willing to do a little work when there is a treat involved!?!

Activity Days: Mother's Day Cards

This idea came from myself.

In the Faith in God book one suggested activity for Serving Others is to write a letter to a teacher, your parents, or your grandparents telling them what you appreciate and respect about them. I decided to have the girls make Mother's Day cards for their moms including what they respect and appreciate about them. They absolutely love to get all the craft things out and make projects so this was a hit! We used glitter glue sticks, colored paper, jeweled brads, stickers, ribbon and their creativity to come up with some very darling little cards. Once they dried they wrote what they appreciated about their moms and will present them to their moms on Mother's Day or anyday for that matter.

Activity Day Ideas: Stocking Making Party

This idea is from: http://nacjmac.blogspot.com/2008/12/primary-fun.html

We had a fun stocking making party for the Activity Days girls at my house and made 35 stockings that we are filling and taking to a local clinic for needy families. We are excited to take them, and the girls had a lot of fun making them.
